That sounds like the trick. I'll order one and let you know if it fixes the problem. Thanks as usual Joey.

    wants to die when hot

My 97 Disco is doing this too and it is also impossible to restart on a hot day after driving locally. Once it sits for a while I can get it going but then it runs real rough and acts like it is starving for fuel. Doesn't overheat. This is at normal operating temp. Changed the fuel...

Engine VERY difficult to restart after warmed up

I was reading about exhaust valves sticking. That could be the problem. I ran Seafoam through mine and it seemed to get rid of the sputtering. Joey, will Seafoam tratment through the intake help clean buildup off the exhaust valves? The one post I was reading at another site said...

Engine VERY difficult to restart after warmed up

New Fuel filter (that's a saga to be told another time), fuel temp sensor, spark plugs and a Seafoam treatment and she is running great. MPG way up from 11 MPG city to 14. I think I also had some sticky exhaust valves too. Seafoam seemed to take care of that pretty well. Just turned over...

just bought a 97 land rover, need some help

Something you have probably already done but make sure the differential lock is not on. Bad things can happen if drive at highway speeds with it in the locked position.

    Shuts down!!!

Fuel pressure regulator! That may be my problem too. Where is it and how hard is it to replace? Thanks Joey

    Shuts down!!!

Try changing the fuel filter and the fuel temp sensor. Joey said that a bad sensor will cause this problem. I have the same problem and I have changed the sensor but still trying to get some time to change the filter. I'll let you know if the filter change solves my problem. Good luck

    Changing Fuel Filter

I was thinking of that! How did you reconnect the new hose? Regular hose clamp? Thanks for the advice. Maybe the new filter and fuel temp sensor will do the trick.

Engine VERY difficult to restart after warmed up

Thanks Joey: Where is the fuel temp sensor located?

Engine VERY difficult to restart after warmed up

97 Disco This may be related to the probably clogged fuel filter that I am trying to remove but here is the starting problem: When engine is cold it fires right up and idles great. Normal acceleration and no problems while driving along. If I drive for a half hour then run in to the...

    Changing Fuel Filter

97 Disco SE7 97k miles This bugger is a real pain. Got the rear connection loose but can't get the front to budge. The penetrating oil helped but front fitting is still stuck. I bought the "kit" when I ordered the filter and it came with new hose sections and fittings. The rubber...

    Changing Fuel Filter

Roger that. I started trying to loosen with two spanners and when nothing budged I came here. I'll spray it down every night and try it on Wednesday. Thanks Joey,

    Changing Fuel Filter

Any tricks for loosening and removing the fuel filter? Been meaning to do this for about 6 months and I think it is getting plugged up. 97 Disco SE 7 96k miles Thanks

    Engine problem, need help

Do you have a code reader to check why the service light came on? Plugs could be fouled. I'd clean and re gap them. Also check your ignition wires. Make sure you have good connections at both ends. Good luck.

    Engine problem, need help

Agree with Joey. The screen at the end of the pick up tube can get loaded with sludge. I have cleaned mine twice. Once when I bought it in Nov. 04 and this past October. You'll be amazed at the crud. This past October, the light came on just as I was picking up a client at the airport in...

    Heated Seat

Thanks Joey. It seems like a sticking problem because I was able to work the cable loose a little bit. The gears under the seats are encased in plastic and I don't know how I will clean and lube them up unless I remove the seat. Unless someone has another way. If not, I'll let you all know...

    Heated Seat

Yes: when I disconnected the cables from the motors, the motors responded to whatever direction I moved the switch. When connected to the motors the cables would not turn but would stick. Cables are not broken and when I worked them manually I was able to get them to turn to a point and the...

    Heated Seat

Joey or anyone: Where can you get the replacement element for the heated seat? Also with the driver's seat, I can't get it to adjust up or down. The switches are ok and the motors are ok. Somethin seems to be sticking in the gears under the seat. Nothing in any of my manuals about this...

    Heated Seat

Exact same thing just happened with my 97 Disco SE7. Except that the seat got really hot under my left leg when I would turn it on. I figured the element was getting ready to fry. After switching it on a few moree times over the next couple of days it stopped working. Joey: Any advice...

Intermittent electrical problems when starting my 98 Disco

Again, I followed Joey's suggestion and cleaned the fuse block that is under the hood behind the battery. My intermittant electrical problems stopped. 97 Disco 91k miles.
