I recollect that when the car first debuted, LR people in promo pieces showed off the "feature" of being able to turn on the e-brake at 50 mph. They had magazine writers pull the switch at high speed in an effort to show that, even if the regular brakes failed, there was a "controlled" back-up...
I took the LR3 to the dealer this morning. And I (fortunately or unfortunately) managed to reproduce the sound. While the car was not moving. In park. The repair people kinda came flying out of the building saying "Dear God, what was that?" Metal-on-metal scraping/grinding (but, oddly...
Of course, now I can't make the noise again. I think there was still some noise when stopped (the last time it made the noise). So maybe it is a belt. I think I'll have the dealer look at it.
It has happened before, more quietly and intermittently. But today it is embarrassingly, painfully loud. It is hard to tell where it comes from, but I think it is from one (or more) of the wheels. It is a loud, scraping sound (almost grinding but not quite; somewhat high pitched). It seems...
My '05 V8 SE has a "cigarette-lighter" style outlet in front of the second row, built into the console between the front two bucket seats. And, it has one on the left side of the third row.
you should see what they'll do for you at the dealer. the new steering wheel rim (they only replace the outer ring) they put on my LR3 is totally different from the original. it is not shiny at all; it is more like an old-school, leather, indoor-use-only basketball. there was clearly a bad...
my peeling was on the left hand side; and they are ordering me a free one. did others have peeling in the same spot? i am trying to avoid a non-free one at 90k.
Thanks. I'll ask the dealer about coverage under warranty. The thing that troubles me is that I have cleaned and conditioned the steering wheel (and all leather surfaces) rather religiously.
My '05 V8 SE (took possession 12/04) has recently developed some leather peeling on the left side of the steering wheel, where I keep my left hand while driving. The leather surface is pulled back in places, lumped up in odd-stringy pieces, and sticky. The entire damaged section is about 1.25...
My '05 V8 SE had a similar problem, almost immediately after I took possession in December 2004. LR replaced the whole rear wiper assy.; no problems since.
A not-so-welcome guest spilled heavily-milked coffee inside the grill on the passenger in-door stereo speaker. I have cleaned off the surface with a cloth, in the hope that this would also gently clean the surface directly behind the grill. However, from the driver position, one can see the...
My '05 V8 SE (Adriatic Blue) has not had any problems with scratching or chips (the only chip -- easily fixed with touch up paint and rubbing compound -- was the result of a 120 mph collision between a rock from an oncoming truck's load of rocks and my car). The only paint issue I have noticed...
I have an 05 SE7. My gas mileage (by hand and by computer) has fluctuated from 12.5 to 22 mpg, during my 35,000+ miles. The last few weeks, the temperature has been below freezing every day and my fuel economy has been at the low end of the range. The same thing happened last winter.
[2005 SE V8] A couple months ago, I got a transmission vibration, especially at lower speeds. SPORT mode seemed not to have the same issue. It persisted for days. Then I switched to SPORT mode (which I almost never use) for a couple days straight and gunned it a lot and it went away. (???)
My GY's were fine at 20,000 miles, but a screw went through the sidewall of one tire.
Having heard everyone else's stories, I switched to the scorpion zeros after the fatal screwing, and they have been quiet and comfortable (and fine on mild off roading) for their 10,000+ miles.
I have the 18" scorpion zeroes. I got them in May after tearing up a tire. Local LR dealership said they were not approved, but my wife brought them the early U.S. reviews of the LR3 and the cars in the pictures were shod with the Pirellis. Mild off-road through Canada was great on them in...
Filling my gas tank this summer in Canada, some gizmo on the gas pump caught that little flap inside the filler tube. The flap bent (and later tore off). LR said it wasn't dangerous but that gas evaporation was not fully sealed. Took them a couple days to fix it. This might be the issue.
Mine (took possession 12/04) have always and still do squeak in the same manner (same conditions). When I'm creeping forward under very light braking. More embarrassing than troubling.
