Hey gutys. Just dumped my crappy wranglers for a set of michelin synchromes for $300. 255/60/18 - very impressive tire for those looking for an upgrade. There are so few sources out there for good tires. They are discontinued tires but a 1/2 of the price new. Really impressed do far.

That looks like a pretty good replacement for the Goodyear Wrangler HP's, but personally, I don't think they are agressive enough for any sort of off road use.

what size? Are these for the 18 " (SE) rims or the 19 inchers?

I heard that the Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires were just approved by LR for use on the LR3.

Anyone know anything about these tires? How would you compare them to the stock 19" Goodyears or the Michelins?

Just found this writeup online;

Derived from Pirelli's legendary P Zero performance tires, the Scorpion Zero is a Street/Sport Truck All-Season tire for sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks. The Scorpion Zero was designed to provide year round traction and handling for drivers who operate their light truck vehicles primarily on-road in various weather conditions, including very occasional light snow.

Depending on tire size, the Scorpion Zero radial's tread compound is molded into a single Z or double Z (two rows of Z-shaped tread blocks situated side-by-side) intermediate tread blocks to provide responsive steering, along with enhanced cornering and braking capability. Lateral grooves and wide circumferential grooves provide water evacuation to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet weather traction. Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires combine high-speed precision with low noise levels.

I don't know if I like the phrase "very occasional light snow," but maybe that's just for liability. Are these more of a stree tire than the Goodyear or equal?

I have the 18" scorpion zeroes. I got them in May after tearing up a tire. Local LR dealership said they were not approved, but my wife brought them the early U.S. reviews of the LR3 and the cars in the pictures were shod with the Pirellis. Mild off-road through Canada was great on them in June (rocks, mud, gravel). On-road, they are quieter than the Goodyears (and seem to get better fuel economy, but there are lots of factors for that). Based on the treads--and a couple unpleasant slips in the last "hurricane"--I can't believe that they will be very good in real off-road or off-road snow.
