Are these two options available with the Gap tool?

Read the #4 post of this thread. I posted a device called, "Video in Motion" that does just that. It unlocks ALL DVD and Navigation functions while in motion. There's a secret screen that does it too.

At Long Last... Modern head unit!

Would be kinda cool to get the single-din and have a pop out touchscreen unit. I'd get rid of the clock by tucking it under one of the center vents and put a dual row 12 gang rocker switch panel there.

    Mudflaps to catch rocks

Can't really beat $15 for a set of decent mud flaps. I'll pick some up next time I'm at a Love's.

Are these two options available with the Gap tool?

My '11 LR4 cameras are active regardless of speed too. I just can't stare at them cause it's distracting. The second part is yes/no. Unfortunately, it's highly illegal to do so. I argue that it's stupid for the remote to be pointed at one of the headrest to navigate the on-screen functions...

    Pre-wired Trailer Hitch Question.

Yes, ALL LR4s are pre-wired for electronic brake controllers, even the ones without the tow package. The plug is a Ford plug, if you need a model F150 plug will do. The tekonsha p3 with the ford plug is plug n play...

    Mudflaps to catch rocks

Curious to know how stiff are those mud flaps? I wanted to do this, but the ones I've found were not flexible enough for me to climb over things without it ripping it off or causing other damage.

Where to tap coolant for a shower heat exchanger?

Here's an interesting idea... What if you have a permanent water holding tank, water pump to circulate, temp controller, and a self-priming pump. Let's just say the holding tank is in the oem spare location. On the holding tank side of the heat exchanger, add a 12v water pump that's controlled...

    Rear wheel carrier latch question

It's a 15 gallon fuel tank. It was made for a Jeep, but I made it fit the Terrafirma tire carrier with minimal mods. I flipped the Terrafirma mounting plate upside down and added a wheel adapter to change it from 5x5 to 5x120. Works great with an external fuel pump too, even though it's 1 gpm...

Where to tap coolant for a shower heat exchanger?

I like the idea of having an on-board heated shower. Better than lugging this thing around with water and propane, less things to carry.

    NGK vs Bosch Ignition coils

I wouldn't do it. I like NGK, but I like Denso more. I've run both over 30 years in many applications. NGK because it's a little cheaper, but Denso lasts longer and burns cleaner IMO. I definitely don't like Bosch, especially their spark plugs. If you're rebuilding the complete engine, just get...

    Rear wheel carrier latch question

BMW style 130 and the tires are KO2s 255/70r17. Got a hellova deal on it, about $1300 for 6x installed with hazard a few years ago.

Where to tap coolant for a shower heat exchanger?

What if you tapped into the upper coolant hose? That's where the hot coolant flows out. Maybe use something like this, but with the right diameter to tap...

Timing Reinstall - Crankshaft Won't Turn by Hand

Sorry, I came to the party late. Hopefully this is resolved. Dumb question, but did you put the transmission into (N)eutral, remove the starter locking plate, or crankshaft sensor locking tool before trying to rotate the crank? To find timing on the block, make sure the chuck on the crank is...

Where to tap coolant for a shower heat exchanger?

There's a n-i-p-p-l-e on the front crossover pipe that is already open. On the V8 there's a cap on the n-i-p-p-l-e at the y-pipe. I'm sure there's something similar for the newer LR4s. Not 100% sure about this, but it looks like the '14 and up has a different pipe that has a cap (#22). Maybe you...

    Rear wheel carrier latch question

I have the Terrafirma one and it's nice. The strut definitely was a nice touch to help swing out and keeps it there, but it only swings out about (guessing) 95°. The latch is simple enough that my wife and kids can latch/unlatch it. I put a tiny pin in it to keep it from accidentally popping...

Timing parts purchased are quite different

scv6 and v8 are the same motor with the same internals, the scv6 just has 2 blanked cylinders. The timing chain tensioners, guides, and chains are all the same. The newer 2nd revision has a new design to change the geometry of the tensioners pushing on the guides to provide better leverage, but...

    2015 US LR4 Tailgate won't open

Sounds to me like your cable came off of the actuator or the actuator isn't fully extending/contracting to unlock the upper tailgate. If the rubber buttons aren't working, you'll probably need to replace the rubber button. Here's a good video to check out, While you have your tailgate opened...

    Before Top Dead Center

The key is finding it. Choke the wheels, put it in Neutral. If your battery is off the truck, pull the center cup holder and push the white plastic shift lock in to put it in Neutral. The way I found it is to stick a long kebab stick down cylinder 1 through the spark plug, rotate the crank...

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

I have a full set of height sensors. However, my XLifter has a bypass and there's other ways around a failed height sensor. Oem stuff, maybe ignition coil(s), fluid, coolant, fuses, and not really much. I typically double-check everything a week+ in advance to make sure everything is in tip-top...

Just received my notice to put my deposit down on a Grenadier

My buddy received the same email and they're honoring the presale pricing at $71k. They probably didn't want to get slapped with a clickbait lawsuit. He's going to buy it for the presale of $71k and probably resell it at msrp $90-100k. This market is crazy. It's not going to let off anytime...

Question for LR4 owners that switched to 18" wheels

As far as ET or offset goes, the difference between ET44 and ET27 is 17mm or 0.66", which means that it'll protrude outwards 17mm or 0.66". This gives the option to run a proper wheel spec without wheel spacers for the "look" or wider stance. Running wider also means that it takes a little more...

    Front skid plate options?

Something I also learned is stainless steel bolts suck! They can seize up more frequently than standard zinc plated bolts. I actually like my zinc bolts, silver or yellow.

    Replacement Valve Guides

@slav rys My buddy's LR4 5.0L has the same issue and needs to get that all worked out in Denver too. Where about in Denver did you get your heads done? And do you mind, how much did that run you (you can PM me if you want to keep it private)? TIA

    Before Top Dead Center

Oh, I would also like to add that you should mark the position of the chuck on the crank pulley. It'll save you down the road from trying to find the position later.
