2015 Land Rover LR4 HSE- Thinking about buying, does the engine sound right? https://youtu.be/wqjUb-qWbxE

If a Land Rover is not leaking oil, there something wrong with it. That’s how we know they’re still alive. Just FYI, minor oil leaks from the valve cover or timing cover are pretty common on these trucks. Pulling the valve cover requires pulling the injectors, so a lot of folks let minor...

Suspension Fault When Parked on Incline

I've read that degraded silica desiccant from the drier can start to clog the exhaust vent giving rise to this code. I wonder if being on a hill is causing loose desiccant to pile up in a way that blocks the vent.

    Back Crossover/Heater Manifold Repair

I think you should be able to reach that back coolant temp sensor without taking the intake off, but you might need to remove the windshield cowling if you aren't taking off the intake. I have an SCV6 and did the whole job with the intake off, but I was thinking at the time that removing the...

Looking for thoughts on leak under engine block

Like a ****** mystery. All we see is what‘s left on the garage floor. If you need help identifying the fluid itself, you’ll have to let us know what it feels like and smells like, i.e., oily or watery, sweet smelling, burnt smelling, etc. Also, looks like it could have mixed with residue...

Engine goes into reduced power mode

Maybe VVT solenoids? Not an oiler device, but seems to fit the description. They adjust timing of the camshafts.

There may be nothing you can do... P0016

I didn’t read through the whole thread here, so apologies if it’s already been covered, but I think this could be VVT solenoids or cam positions sensors. I haven‘t changed either on mine, but I understand both are pretty easy to swap out. Personally - I’d be looking at the VVT first, but not...

P0101 my latest gremlin after gassing up

The fact that it occurs after refueling makes me think of the evap/purge system, and specifically the charcoal canister. If the purge valve is not sealing, or if the charcoal canister is saturated, you can get improper air/fuel ratios. I‘ve seen a number of reports of charcoal canister...

Anyone end up buying their Grenadier order

I’ll likely cancel my order. I really like the car, but no dealers in northern CA and no real plan to get service to people far from dealers. Plus, really p*ssed that they promised everyone that service manuals would be made available to consumers, and now they seem to be backing away from...

    Injector failure?

Seems like fuel delivery is a logical place to start looking since it’s worse under load. I’d probably be thinking fuel pump before injector, but could be either. Too bad you can’t see fuel rail pressure or fuel trims. I also thought the gap tool could be used as a code reader on other LRs...

2012 - Decreased power on incline

I don’t think a bad vacuum pump really does much other than make smoke.

    Misfire cylinder 8

Nevermind…I see that you mentioned switching them around. I guess valves are the only thing left.

2012 - Decreased power on incline

One other thing (at the risk of stating the obvious) - make sure the air filters are clean. I guess that makes me think also of cleaning/testing the mafs. But I’d still look at fuel pressure/trims first if it were me.

2012 - Decreased power on incline

I wonder if you’ve got a weak fuel pump that can’t keep up with the increasing demand under load. If you have a gap tool, you could monitor your fuel rail pressure and demanded rail pressure when driving and then climbing a hill. Actual pressure and demanded pressure should stay pretty well...

    2014 LR4 Leaking Coolant

I agree with this. Shouldn’t be any need to replace the oil cooler or it’s gasket, and it doesn’t need to be removed to do the rest of the work. The intercooler gasket can be reused, but maybe it’s not too expensive (intake manifold gasket needs new). The thermostat comes as one piece...

Only 5 quarts of oil drained second oil change in a row (also… drain plug?)

So it ended up being the vacuum pump causing the smoke?

2012 - Decreased power on incline

Possibly a brake dragging? Might check the temp on your wheels, see if any are hotter than the others?

    Help! Its Smoking!

What year? If its the v8, might well be the vacuum pump. Been reported on these forums a few times. It’s connected to the intake via vacuum hose. When it goes bad, oil is sucked straight from the pump/crankcase into the intake. If its an scv6, could be the supercharger bypass is stuck...

Code P2066: Fuel level sensor B circuit range/performance

This would be related to the fuel level sensor in the tank. Closest thing I could find is code P0265. See attached.

    Common fuel pressure issue?

Wonder if it could be the low pressure fuel pump relay cutting in and out. In any event, I’d suspect the lp pump over the hpfps with it cutting in and out like it seems to be doing based on the initial post.

LR4 "Gearbox not in Park" - Dial shifter stuck in Drive

If I remember correctly, there are two releases under the cup holder. One is for the parking brake and the other is to put the gear shift into neutral.

    Idle Help

With respect to the battery, what I had in mind was not actually the battery, but the alternator putting a little more drag than normal on the belt which might drop the rpms a bit and make the car shudder. If the alternator is failing (or maybe the battery too), it might be running too high a...

    Idle Help

Did you get that throttle clamp replaced to fix the vacuum leak? No change? Just so we’re on the same page, by low idle, you mean around 620? My scv6 idles at about 680, so not all that different. Wondering if 620 is actually in the normal range. Anyone else here idling that low? It’s...
