Got the following codes on a short trip today. Previously, I’ve had issues with short- and long- term fuel trims on Bank 1 as well, but too intermittently to really pin down.

1. It strikes me as a little odd that the heater circuit and the lambda both would register as off, especially since the code was thrown long after the engine was warm. Could that point to a harness issue instead?

2. I’ve got 63k on this thing, with the Velocity tune and smaller SC pulley for about 10k of that. Is it normal for an O2 sensor to fail this early? I’m used to them lasting 100k+ in other vehicles.

3. Should O2 sensors in these things be replaced “in pairs,” so the banks match? Or should I consider replacing all 6 at this point?

4. When I was trying to do live values, I could only see available sensors 1 & 2 for each bank, not 3. Do I just need to call GAP about that?

Thanks as always!

I believe there is a bulletin on this problem and, if I recall correctly, landrover was handling the replacement for free. Something about water intrusion into the heater circuit.

Look at tune because those codes could mean the A/F ratio is wrong. Look at the knock and knock ****** PIDs too because if it is running lean it can lead to engine damage.

That would be helpful! I found this:
https://www.tsbsearch.com/Land-Rover/SSM72556

The TSB specifically says to not replace the like sensor on bank 2 if bank 1 is the only one showing an issue, so I guess that answers one of my questions.

Guess I’ll be calling LR tomorrow. Thanks for pointing me in this direction!

That TSB looks like a good fit. What is the power like with your Velocity Tune with smaller SC pulley?

It’s better, but not night and day. IIRC, you can request different focuses for the tune, and I focused a bit more on the mileage side than the giddy up side. I can’t say it helped my mileage drastically, either.

Yes, I have a log with output voltages from sensor 3. The field reads: “oxygen sensor output voltage-bank 1-sensor 3” (same format for bank 2).

Strange. They had me update the firmware (although it already seemed to be up to date), and I still cannot find those sensors in the complete list.

Geez… Land Rover Portland won’t even talk on the phone with me about the trouble codes, TSBs or the extended coverage on the O2 sensors unless I bring it in. Which is fine, but…

I live 30 miles from there, and I have to drop off the vehicle, can’t wait around for it, and it could be anywhere from 2 hours to 2 days before they could diagnose it!
