03 Disco SE Knock Knock who's there....Cold

Any help would be appreciated. I have a 03 Disco SE 4.6L, it sounds like a diesel when cold. lower end knock. still has slight knock warm esp at idle.

right now it has 5w-30, oil pressure is 40lbs/50lbs cold, and 9lbs/42lbs hot.
(idle/2000 rpm)

I have read many posts and most say to give the oil pressure readings. but I have not seen any answers afterwards.

Can anyone help? Please.....

How much of a mechanic are you, how many miles on the engine?
You most likely have a failing oil pump. I would suggest you not start it again, unless you are looking to buy a new engine and send me your tele # so I can walk you thru what tos do and check.

Thank you so much for replying. I own my own auto repair shop and have been working on cars all my life. Haven't had much experience with Land Rovers except fixing some difficult electrical problems that other shops couldn't handle. This one is completely new to me. I did put 20w/50 in the engine and the hot idle pressure is just under 15 psi. others are the basically the same. Knock is still there just not as bad. Oh it has 84k on it. the rest of the vehicle is very clean.

Mike, thanks so much for the help. but do to the issues with that engine series we made a family decision to trade it in and not mislead anyone. I'm still a fan and am looking for another one.
