Awesome story; your neighbor must've seen red to have your LR3 out-doing his fancy LR4! How are the Hakkas on good old rain and standing water?

They are absolutely fine in normal rain, seem to move water well with no hydroplaning. Their only weak spot is deep slush, especially in NH where they use some type of liquid snow melt on the roads instead of salt or sand.
