The 1791 hack worked the same way on the RR as it did on Disco/LR3 and RRS: MY2005 and 2006 with originally supplied Land Rover / Denso map data DVD, part # YIW500023: work; MY2007,2008,2009, DVD part # YIW500210 or later: no work.

PS: The 2010s (FFRR, RRS, LR4) will have a new fancy pants, gee ****, hard-drive based satnav, no more DVDs to hack. Unfortunately, navigation on the move will still be disabled in North America.

I hope it let's you upload/download memory points. Would be a nice feature to transfer points from one car to another or do some work online and then bring that the car.

Limiting funcitonality on the move is a pain in the ass. That's a little overprotective of them. Give us the warning and let us handle it ourselves. We're big boys.

However, because it is a hard drive, that means you can connect to it, or remove it. Thus giving you access to the files. Therefor, it's plausible that one may be able to find the installed file, remove it. Or at least let one look at it to mess around with, rather than have a mysterious brain that no one can figure out how to get into.

Or I can get you a 1791 enabled disc if you like using the 1791.

BTW, the 2009 DVD does NOT work with the 1791. The last version to work with 1791 was the 2008. PM for me details about discs...

Angas, do you have the poor directions bug that was discussed in another thread?

I see that with my 2008 disc. Can't recall if it is worse than prior years or not...I think so. It isn't a major nuisance, but is annoying when it occurs. I was wondering if I have the bug as well or maybe by burning our own discs we avoided the SW update that causes this.

I suppose, I'm wondering if you tried putting in an older disc and seeing if the bug was still there. Guess I can do that as well, but you're all over this NAV disc stuff. :)

I just installed the hacked 2008 disc. An unexpected surprise, it feels 3x faster than the 2004 disc I had in there before. There is almost no delay between screens now. I also have my neighborhood on the map finally so that's good :)
