I am hopefully two weeks away from taking delivery of my the wifes new LR4. Not sure if I made the right choice of Nara Bronze with Almond/Arabica. Also got the 20inch rims. Does anyone have the same combination and are they happy. She had the Bonati Grey LR3 (wish they still had that color). 6 years and no problems (until two months ago when the air suspension started to have trouble filling up).

I have been reading some of the threads. Everyone really helps each other out. Thanks for letting me be a part of this.

Hello Dadfrankel,

I have that color combination and really like it (look at my recent "Off-Roading Pictures" thread for photos). I do go back and forth at times when I see a white or black LR4, but Nara Bronze (and the color combo you have inside) is very nice. I get a lot of compliments and people seem to love the color. It's definitely a unique color combination. The color does a good job hiding dirt and mud. I go off-roading once in a while and it hides dirt pretty well. I think you made a great choice! :) When you wax it up - the color is beautiful in the sunshine!

Best of luck - be sure to post pictures!

Nara Bronze seems to be an extremely polarizing color: some love it, some absolutely hate it.

I have that color combination as well. Took delivery of our 2012 HSE-Lux with Vision Assist in Nov 2011. But decided to stay with standard 19" rim to maintain ride quality. I even feel that 19" is pretty stiff, and get bouncy sometimes... but all in all, it's manageable.

Congrats on your new-comer!

Its funny you talk about the ride with 19inch. Not sure if I made the right choice ordering with the 20inch rims. Do you think it will be too bouncy? I am also debating having them put in the aftermarket DVD headrests. would rather do iPad hookups but have yet to see someone come out with a dock that charges and is not bulky.

Don't get me wrong...The 20" looks great. I believe the LR4 suspension has been "soften up" compared to LR3. But I have 2 little ones that we shuttle around, so comfort trumps the looks in our case :)
Personally I am looking to unlock the speed limiter so the DVD and DIVX video can play while the vehicle is in motion (see my other thread in the same forum). The factory system is capable of playing DVD and DIVX videos from USB flash drive when the vehicle is stop or under 5 MPH. Once I can get it unlocked, I am planning to install two 11" flip down monitors. The high ceiling on 2nd row has its inherit benefit here. I think they are concealed better if it's flipped down from the ceiling. Just my 2 cents...

What about Mud Flaps and skidplate

I have seen some pictures with the silver skid plate and it looks nice. Don't get me wrong I don't think the wife will need it in the Wegmans parking lot but is it worth it. Also what did your dealer charge you for the front and rear mud flaps

I have 20" factory-optioned wheels on my '11 LUX (...in boringly safe silver) If anything, from my experience bigger wheels offer tighter handling/stiffer ride (+subjectively, better looks)

Hey dadfrankel,

I do not have the mud flaps, as I would likely damage them when I go off-roading. I do have the skid plate and it looks awesome! I HIGHLY recommend a place out of the UK that makes LR4 skid/sump plates and they are awesome. These are much better quality (and cheaper in price) than the Land Rover skid plate protection they are offer. Here is a link to the website:

http://www.gnvehicleprotection.co.uk/discovery-4-sump-guard.html

When you e-mail them, Neil will respond (he's great!) tell him "David West" referred you. I did not have it black powder coated, but I believe it was $450.00 USD including shipping from the UK. The installation was very easy - basically M10 (1.5) x 35-40 bolts and nuts. You take off your OEM black plastic (which is hardly anything) and the skid plate bolts on to pre-existing holes. You can see more pictures of the skid plate in my recent post called "Off-Roading Pictures"... I hope this helps!

I also think the head lamp and tail lamp guards (from Land Rover) look great with the Nara Bronze... black goes very well. I also love the black ladder. I ordered a Voyager half-rack and ladder and very excited to get them installed this week. I'll post pictures!
