Sorry to keep bugging everyone about my tire dilemma but this is the final question. What is the consensus between a 265/65/18 versus 285/60/18? I'm interested in anyone's experience, especially with regard to rubbing with turning and articulation.

I'll probably do the BFG if I do the 265 and the Nitto Terra Grappler if I do the 285. Again, thanks for any input.

Josh, if you're going to buy 4 tires from a given shop, I'd suspect they'd let you try 'em on and see for yourself. That's the onlly way you're going to be comfortable with your decision. I think, from what I've heard and my own experience, there is a potential for rubbing with either; 265's because they're too tall (the 65% aspect ration does it) or 285's because they're too wide (mine rub, still not sure if it's due to the wheel offset or the tire width). So...go check it out.

BFG's come in @ 799 mm, while Nittos @ 801, so not a whole lot of height difference. Both will rub the front of the the rear wheel well upon articulation. Neither will hit anything else on turns or any other time. So, we are in a wash here.
What kind of driving do you do? if you are in a snow state, consider the narrower BFG for those kinds of surfaces. Non-snow, either one are fine. Do you off-raod and what kind? Mud and ruts, or Rock crawl? The BFG has a 3-ply side wall, reported to be the best in the business and could make a difference in tough rock conditions, the Nitto does not, but is no slouch either. I prefer BFG, but that's me. Hit all the past posts, and then go for it!

I don't have any experience with either but I'm getting some BFGs either today or Thursday and I'll let you know about the rubbing issue. I went with the BFGs because they are narrower and have the severe service emblem. This means that they will pass muster both legally and functionally when I'm driving over the mountain passes here in Oregon. I was also pleased with the idea that I could air them way down for sand driving also. I'm not looking forward to the price of the BFGs.

I'm mounting them on a separate set of wheels and am going to keep the 19" that the truck came with for everyday use. I'm not expecting the Goodyears to last for long but I'll get what use I can out of them. I'm still looking for a fifth 18" wheel for a spare.
