I freed my linkage last year, but my xfer would not lock (no light either).

My gut says maybe one of the clips that pushes the shifter yoke is missing/broken inside the front housing.

has anyone pulled their front housing w/o pulling the whole xfer case?

Are you sure it isn't locking and the light just doesn't work?

thx joey

Naw, it doesn't

the rave doesn't show much except exploded view of the components & the front housing looks like it just slides onto the mainshaft splines.

I'll probably wait 'til spring & try it. then if it goes bad (tech stuff falls out on me), I'll yank the hole thing & go thru it.

I'm also looking for set of truetraks (407frnt & 383rear) but cheap as poss.

Usually the main failure with the D1 linkage is from lack of use and or dirt/dried grease in the shifter. When this happens, some people just power scrub their linkage and then spray it with some penetrating fluid, if that doesn't work then the option is to pull the console, going thru the floor to the shifter and removing/cleaning and greasing the parts.
Once fixed, try to shift it once a month or so to keep it freed up in the future.
