I have a 2001 Discovery and the A/C was working just fine, then all of a sudden, the air was blowing BUT not very cold. Any ideas? I didn't hear any funny noises when it stopped working. HEEELLLPPP!

Out of refrigerant?
Compressor broken?

Unfortunately the A/C is one of those things that you need someone to diagnose. Fortunately, any auto repair place that works on A/C should be able to help you.

First check to make sure that if you put on max a/c it works or doesn't work.

Second, go by you local auto parts dealer and pic up an A/C thermometer (goes in vent) about $4. then pick up a good refill kit for the R134a system should come with a reusable gauge about $30 or less. The fill valve is against the firewall should be marked with an "L" start vehicle with a/c on and check the gauge to see if it just needs charged. If not, then you have other issues. If it does, add some R134a till it shows good on the guage.

Hope this helps,

Did you inadvertently hit the ECON button? This shuts the compressor off.

Check if the compressor clutch is engaging. Start the engine and switch on the A/C. If it doesn't engage, next to the compressor are a couple of pressure switches which could be stuck. Giving them a slight tap may set things straight again.
