I have a 1996 Disco SD (96,000 miles) and recently when I have my a/c on it will automatically turn off for a few seconds then come back on; when it goes off the light on the snow flake turns off then when it comes back on the light comes back on?? Do you think it could be the extreme heat we are currently experiencing down here in the southeast?? Yesterday the heat index was 110 and my a/c has never done this!!!! Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Other than the a/c turning off and on my a/c is REALLY cold (when it is on)- coldest a/c I have ever had on a vehicle, especially when my recycle air button is turned on.

Let me guess, you have the fan setting on 4 the highest setting?

If so, this is a common problem, the contacts are dirty or getting worn out. Two ways to fix this issue.

1. Don't use 4 on the fan
2. Replace the fan switch

Okay 3 things.... when it quits reach down and move from 4 to 3 and back to 4 real quick.....
