Hi Everyone,

Happy Friday!

I had to replace a back tire because of a nail puncture (the Land Rover dealer would not repair the tire as per their "protocol"), so I am planning to use that tire as a full-sized spare once I get it patched at a tire place. I am going to take off my donut tire and strap the full-size tire up there as a spare.

Does anyone have suggestions for a cheap rim? I don't need anything fancy, as this would only be for a temporary spare - so, I am not looking to get a LR rim.

Any suggestions? I could ask the tire place, but if there is something I can get beforehand it would be great.

Thanks!

Check the junk yards for a matching wheel. It should be reasonable and not too much more expensive than an aftermarket wheel.

Sometimes you will see a matching spare wheel on Ebay or craigs list.

I'm not sure why the dealer won't repair a nail hole unless it is through the sidewall. If that is the case, you don't want it as a spare either and I doubt that a reputable tire dealer will even repair it for you. If it is through the tread area it should be fine to use as a spare as long as it is patched well.

I had the same experience with my Lexus dealer. The dealer refused to fix a tire and wanted $250 for a new one. took the car to a tire shop accross the street and got it fixed for $9. Had no issues at all.
