This isn't a big deal, probably only notice it because the LR3 cabin is so quiet, but...
When my climate control is in full auto mode, the air coming out of the windshield vents is quite a bit noisier than if I hit the "
upper vents" button on the left side of the climate control unit. It's as if there are seperate vents for the auto and semi auto mode? It is more noticeable when it is cold out.
Like I said, it is a totally minor deal, one that I can easily live with. I'm just wondering if anybody else has noticed this and what the explanation might be?
Thanks,
roverman
p.s. just got notice for 12000 mile service. What's that for? I was told oil changes are every 7500...

I will have to try it out on mine to see if this is the case for me. But it seems to me that by hitting the "upper vent" button, the system directs the air only thru the, well, upper vent instead of all vents in the auto mode. And in cold weather, hot air comes out mostly thru the bottom. So by chosing the upper vent, there is a lot less air coming out thus less noise.

Officially, oil change are only required every 7500miles. But naturally the dealer are always more eager to "do" more. 12k miles service may also include others stuff in addition to oil change. Check your LR service manual. It's really your call. I change my oil every 3000 miles or 3 mth, old habit.
