Looking for some feedback from the braintrust here. Recently installed a new battery, and besides telling the BCM I had done so, I checked the CFG file to change to the new ratings. Unfortunately, the CFG only has 2 H8 options - well an H8 and an H8HD. Unfortunately neither are exactly correct on the CCA or Amp hour settings. The H8 setting is low on both values, whereas the H8HD would be low on the Amp hours but rated higher for the CCAs.

So the question is which option will be better for the Alternator and ultimately battery life longevity and electrical system operation?

As always, TIA for any & all feedback.

When I replaced my battery last summer I didn't need a CFG. Haven't had a problem with it and a bit skeptical that a CFG is needed to replace the battery or else suffer pre-mature failure.

I would think that the smart charging characteristics of the generator, coupled with the discharge monitoring by the BCM would satisfy nearly any size AGM. Perhaps you could adjust to the H8HD setting. Recall, the BCM contributes to the self adjusting nature of the charge/discharge cycle.
I tend to refer to this: https://www.interstatebatteries.com/blog/how-to-charge-an-agm-battery
