I have a 2014 Full Size Range Rover with Supercharged 5.0 Engine with 134,000 miles on the clock. I purchased it 2 years ago for $30,000 with 101,000 on the clock. Two months ago I was driving on I95 and all of the sudden the truck lurched like I ran over something and the engine just died and I coasted to the side of the Road. I had it towed and the Mechanic Shop says that the Engine is Blown. No Compression. The truck ran hot because I could hear and smell it when I pulled to the shoulder, but the Temp gauge NEVER moved off of Normal. I was told that this is a common problem in these Vehicles. I am looking for anyone that had this happen. I got a price of $12,000 for a Reman Engine from California, then about $5,000 for the Install. I was offered $9,000 from the Range Rover Parts place in Tampa. So, Repower at a cost of approx $18,000, sell it for parts, or take my time and try to find a used engine. Thoughts?????

This really depends on how much you like your Rover. So far it has cost you a $1 a miles to own it. This is cheaper than owning a Ferrari, but not as fun.

If you can afford the engine rebuild, just know you will get somewhere over 100k miles before it happens again. So if you like it and plan to keep it, get a remanufactured engine, if you buy a used engine with 80K miles you may get 10k or 40k or less before it has the same issue. The 5.0L especially the supercharged engines are the worst.

You have a very nice 2014 that for $18k you have a new engine with at least a 1 year warrantee. You sell it for $9k, add $18k and what can you get with a new engine for $27,000? I'd do the engine.

Just my .02 but when you start getting above 130k on an rr you start spending more than it’s worth in repairs. I’ve already spent 9k in repairs on my 12 supercharged. I’d sell yours for 9k and get a newer one. We all know that owning a RR is not an investment, it’s an expensive hobby lol. But that’s just my .02. :)

Well, I have decided to sell my Range Rover for parts and put the $9,000 towards a New Rover. I just bought a 2014 Narna Bronze Metallic Autobiography LWB from an AutoNation Mercedes Benz store in Pompano Beach (Fort Lauderdale), FL. 61,000 miles on the clock, Brand New Pirelli Tires for $57,000.
