Brakes

I have a 2004 Discovery and would llike to take a shot at replacing my own front brake pads. I am average when it comes to mechanics but I need to save money for medical bills from a sick child. Anybody have any advice? Is it crazy for a novice to try? Thanks.

Front brakes are very simple to change on the D2. Remove the wheel, then use a 13mm (I think this is the right size) 6 point socket to remove the calipers. Squeeze the caliper using one old brake pad and a large c-clamp. put new pads in... put calipers back on and tighten the two bolts... put wheel back on.

Biggest issue when doing brakes on a Disco is to get good rotors and pads that stop well and are not dusty so you don't have to deal with the 3 Amigos.
What sort of driving do you do, how much off road?
