Does anyone know how to extract the check engine code?

I have a check engine light since I had my headers installed & Cat Converters cut out...I think that it is a O2 sensor problem. At idle if I sit there for more than 2 mins the idle is quite rough and the engine will eventually die...I changed my stock O2 sensors for a universal 3 wire sensor...

any advise would be great!

Was everything OK before you changed out the exhaust?
Have you checked for codes, what did you find?
Are you sure that the new O2's are compatiable?
Hell I don't have any ideas.

Codes are under passenger seats in that black display (it should lit up red signs ).

Generic O2 sensors are known to not work well in Discos, so that would be suspicion number one. You can try to swap them to old ones and check how it goes.. Also they may get damaged due cat cutting (electrical shock if they werent removed prior, or proper ground was not presented at welding).

So you removed yer cats or replaced them? B/c removal of cats is bloody expensive option, you see. And some lovely jail time.. Put them back if you took them out. PLease Altough it may be not federal offense in Canada of course..

I am probably going to try and swap in some proper (new) OEM O2 sensors, the headers that I purchased take the cats out, in my location of Canada there is no law regarding removal of Cat Converter which I guess is a good & a bad thing!

Where under the seat can I find this "black display"? How do you read the codes? Is there a number or...what?

What is the BEST way to reset the ECU and remove the CEL?
