I agree. The noise is acceptable for a few thousand miles. After that you can’t say they’re anything close to being quiet.

I have about 15k on mine with plenty of tread and can’t take the noise much longer. They are unstoppable off road though.

My Cooper Zeons are about as worn as yours, and yes they are somewhat loud. Here is the dilemma...when new they tend to dig in sand but the more worn they get, the better they work in sand, but also the louder they get.

That dealer comment about not running off road tires due to excessive vibration sounds ridiculous.

I happen to have a DB sound meter, and am going to do a comparison when I get my tires swapped next week. I'm curious to see how much louder the new tires will be.. In order to get a baseline of data, I'll test the Connis (10% tread left) at 40, 50, 60, and 70 mph.. Let me know if those numbers need to be adjusted..

It appears the Great Pumpkin came early this year:

Lesson learned: Measuring interior noise on a vehicle has a lot of variables. Bumps, wind hitting the truck, and other traffic really mess with having a standardized process.

This was done on the same length of road, with other vehicles at least 50 feet away. The readings are the lowest recorded, hoping that it represents the vehicle and not the external elements acting on the sound(see above).

Stock Connis, 10% Tread

40 MPH 59db
50 MPH 65db
60 MPH 66db
70 MPH 68db

Duratrac, New

40 MPH 61db
50 MPH 65db
60 MPH 65db
70 MPH 69db

Not much to see.. I think that what is happening is that there is a new tone being introduced with the Duratracs (the slight hum on the highway), but it is not at a db level that affects the overall interior noise that much. The wife, son, and I think that the largest contributor to noise is simply the wind hitting the windshield. I guess the Cooper Zeons would be comparable in noise, as the tread isn't incredibly different.. All in all, I am 100% glad I did it.. The hum is -barely- noticeable, it looks great, and I haul Cub Scouts all over God's creation too much to risk the Connis getting me stuck.

I would agree about the noise with my LTZs. Not louder, just a little different. When I'm cruising down the highway at 75, the wind noise drowns out any noise the tires are making.

We'll see as they wear longer, though.

This tyres are very strong, I deflate to 14psi on the dessert and they seem to be holding very nicely after almost 1 year and >20,000km. No bubbles, no visible damage to the walls, good stuff.

Just so I am clear: you are running 255/55/19s and can deflate to 20psi without issue?

While these tires look great, they have terrible tread life. Mine don’t even have 15000 miles on them and I’m already getting harassed at the tire store that I “need” new ones.

Interesting. I have over 20,000 miles on mine using a 5-tire rotation and having driven them off-road multiple times and they are fine. I can easily get another 15,000 to 20,000 miles out of them.

Have you rotated yours? What's your tread depth like? Do you have a damaged tire? Is your vehicle properly aligned? Maybe your tire store is full of it?

This is actually where they’re at now. They were installed at 143000 and the cars now at 155000. Maybe some bad apples? But I suppose I wasn’t expecting all that for a tire with no tread wear warranty.

Your vehicle needs an alignment. That terrible alignment would have ruined any tire.

Looking at the other thread you just started, was your vehicle aligned after the lift rods were installed? The outside wear on the tires makes it look like it wasn't.
