Some times my rover starts, some times it doesn't doesn't
I have a 96 d1.

I have done the following.
New fuel filter.
New crank sensor.
fuel pump comes on and makes pressure.
starter cranks over at regular speed.

Issue does not appear to be temp related. ( I have had trouble in cool mornings and hot afternoons.)

No codes, no cel.
No spark.
My battery has 12-13 volts before cranking. Drops to 10v while cranking.

Some times the issue can be resolved with a jump.

Whats next???

Deal with that voltage first, should be between 13.6 and 14.4 when running, if not you won't have the required volts for your ECU.
What is your fuel pressure both cold and hot?

Thanks mike.

The System comes up to 14 V when running.

I havent dedicated my self to getting Rave to run on my Mac. But i do have the PDF manual from roverresource.
I spent a couple hours surfing going through the pdf manual.

The FTS testing is not in the fuel or electrical sections.
Mine reads 16.5 ohms at 81* F

Fuel pressure with the pump running is 36 psi.

The Disco runs great, if it starts.

How do i test Injector spray pattern?
I dont understand how clogged injectors would cause random no starts.

Other threads suggested the DIS Coil Pack or the Ignition control module.
I couldnt find the ICM in the manual. Where is it in the car?
My local parts store says they can test ICMs.

Whats next?

What is your fuel pressure both cold and hot when it won't start? My money is on a failing fuel and or blockage in the injector screens from the liner, inside the fuel rail flaking off as they all did before Rover up-graded the material used to line the rails.
Testing the injectors requires removing them and having them tested on an injector tester.
As for blockage, if the screens are plugging up, it takes more pressure to move gas thru them and your old pump, especially when hot, doesn't have it in it.

36 psi was cold and wouldn't start.

So I need to pull the fuel rail and flush it. Or replace it?

What is the part # for the upgraded?
Is that some thing I can find at a wrecker?

Thanks!

When it comes to the injectors, I am just saying that has been a known issue.
Have you tried carb cleaner in the t/body to start the truck, what happens?

Update:
The car sat for 9 mo. I charged the battery and it started on the first crank for 3 days.

Now I'm mysteriously back to nothing.

Cranks but no spark.
I cleaned all fuel injectors. Let the Rail soak in injector cleaner over night.
Some varnish came out. injectors looked decient on spray pattern.

Still no start.

What i noticed is that the check engine light does not light up when the switch is in the accessory position.

Is my ECU bad?

How to i test the ECU? Coils?
(I dont believe all my coils went bad at once.)

Is it true that the Security system stops cranking? And is not engauged if the light is not on?
