I have been up clse to the air intake with no water getting in I was over in just over my 31" tires. I got hung up so I stoped and backed out and took another line and went thru but I was moving fairly slow in the middle I crawled thru so there was some time for water to try to make it in. I stayed dry and no water made it in. The disco 2 I beleve an 04 went thru as well and they took on a little water in the same hole. The door's are sealed up fairly well on the LR3.

The doors are triple sealed, you won't get any water in that way. You might get some in from the steering shaft boot, but it's sealed too, and would only leak if you were stalled out in rushing water. Same thing for the wiring harness penetrations through the firewall. The 30" fording height is a precaution against intaking water in the engine and/or computer that is mounted high on the passenger side fender, but the cabin itself is very well sealed.

I been in over my air intake (accidentally) without a snorkel in a rushing river...luckily the intake hole is downhill from the airbox in the engine bay. There were no leaks whatsoever. I would say that if you keep it below the windows (with snokel installed) for short periods of time, your golden.

Just look for the black LR3 on page 2... hint... it's mostly under water.

We did that one on the final day of GD4. Not quite as deep (thankfully), but still a pretty fun one.

Not to be cynical. . .but what is wrong with that picture? Take a look at the concors condition of the LR3 in the river. Doesn't it seem odd that someone is doeing such ********* 4x4 fun. . .and yet the truck is absolutely stunningly clean? Not a speck o mud or dust or anything anywhere. I gotta be doing it wrong.

When I do things like that. . .the truck is a mess after only a few short min's. . . Java Black magnetically attracks dust and dirt right off the road it would seem. I gotta find out what wax that guy uses:smile:

Maguier's is the best... Just don't look too close at the paint job. After that trip and the GD4 last week, it took me about 3 hours of washing, Scratch X, polishing and waxing to get out the pinstriping. There are still a few nasty gashes though. Gotta love the battle scars.

ScratchX? I'll have to check that out. I have all kinds of scratches when a metal harness or board fin brushes up against the truck. Plus the trail "pinstriping" you mentioned. My traditional compound isn't doing the trick.
