One day my DII started to idle roughly and then the check engine light came on and the idle settled down - but the light stayed on. I took in in to the dealer since it is covered by an extended warranty.
First they replaced the spark plug wires. That night it ran GREAT, until I re-started it later that night and had the same rough idle and engine light.
After a long diagnosis at the dealer, they determined that the cylinder sleeve in #4 had slipped and cracked the block. The truck is in now getting a new block.
My questions..
1. This is a 4.0 engine with 63K on it. It is driven by my wife and has had an easy life. I'm positive that it has never overheated. What would cause the sleeve to slip?
2. While the truck is apart, is there anything I should have the dealer look into?
Thanks
John
