Just got a 1995 LR Disco I with 114,000 miles on it. I actually took it in trade at a small used car lot that I am partners in and I like it enough that I'm seriously considering keeping it for myself.

But first, a few problems. I replaced the battery because it would not hold a charge and a few things happened.

- The SRS light came on. I won't go out and it wasn't on before. Is there a way to reset it without going to the dealer?

- The radio volume won't go up very loud at all. It almost sounds like it is on mute. But it worked fine before replacing the battery.

- And now the weird one - the horn randomly goes off. Even when parked. It can sit for several hours and then just go off and not stop. I removed the fuse for now to save the sanity of myself and my neighbors.

Any ideas? I'm more used to Explorers and Blazers, so this is all new to me.

Check with some of the guys on Disco Web, I think they can help you with the SRS.
You might want to check the fuses especially for the radios amp, may have blown it.
Not a clue what to tell you about the horn.
Good luck and enjoy the truck,
Mike J.

Are you turning the volume up with the knob on the unit or the binnacle switches? If it's the binnacle switches, you need to have the knob on the stereo set on sort of a "maximum" -- then the switches on the binnacle control the volume within that range.

Try turning the knob up fairly high, and then increasing the volume with the switches.

Otherwise, Mike's probably right and you've damaged a fuse or relay or the amp.

Thanks Andy,

But unfortunately, the volume won't go up no matter what I try to use. I probably fried something when I installed the new battery. I also found out that the hazards don't work today as well. The manual that came with it was for a Range Rover, so it's hard to look anything up in there.

I love the truck and I am by no means insulting it by saying this, but geez...for such a tough truck it sure has a fragile electrical system!

you cant get SRS light off by yourself, unless you pony up money for autologic or roverlite. It may come up for number of reasons, including battery discharged, lousy connection on driver's belt (yep. got that one i am) or bad ground somewhere - to irritate you.

probably you got crappy ground connection somewhere, judging by all the other gremlins you got. Sounds almost like there is shortage somewhere. I'd grab tester and start checking connections.

Hey guys, talking about electrical problems on Disco's, I got some of my own:
My stereo display won't light up. I tried exchanging the stereo with another one from a friends Disco but still the same. Also at times the CD player will stop momentarily like it has mo power and then continue. Plus the volume will increase or decrease with no apparent reason.
I'm going to have it checked at a stereo shop tomorrow, and if the diagnosis is the least towards a faulty player I'll install a brand new MP3 player -and tell the wife a horrifying story about what happened to the last guy who had similar problems !!!! :)

Does any one have any idea where these problems might come from? I dont wanna shell out my hard earned cash and still have the same glitches.....
