I wanted to know how to lift a 1995 Discovery. Do you need to install bigger shcoks or springs? Is a body lift worth the money and effort to install. Where and how much can i find the cheapest lift kit. thanks

Cheapest lift would be to take rear springs, move to the front, and buy new 2" lift springs for the rear... then replace the shocks...

Well, hold on there now cowboy. How old are your springs? You probably have noticed the “Disco lean” right? If you get matched springs, you will not have that lean. A few places sell the springs matched. I would suggest – and this is only my opinion – you go OME all around. Yes, there are more sophisticated components you can get but OME is a good all around set up for not a whole lot of money. A set of 4 springs will run about 300, as well as a set of 4 shocks the same. So for 600 bucks you got a nice 2 inch lift. If you are going to install them yourself, I can give you step by step instructions as well as guide you by phone. Go to www.expeditionexchange.com and search the site for OME (Old Man Emu) and they will give you the low down on what shocks and springs to use to achieve what you want. Even if you don’t buy from them, the information on their site is priceless!

Also, depending on the size lift you go with, you might run into some other problems like wandering steering and vibrating driveline. Every Disco is different but each should be OK with a 2 inch lift. If you go higher, like 3 inches, some Discos will be OK and others will experience a whole host of problems. Let us know what you want to do and we’ll all guide you through it.

Hey Tec,
Go look on Dweb under the for sale section. A guy is selling an OME lift (springs & spacers) for pretty cheap. All you need then is the shocks. Didn't pay attention if it was for a D1 or D2 but if it fits a D1 I would get it if I didn't already have a lift.

Hey **** (sorry, sorry, couldn't resist), :)
I have the rover bug pretty bad. I love tinkering on mine even if I really don't do anything to it. My theory on life is this...if you know something that works or makes life better, share it! But thanks for the compliment!
