dealer told me yesterday that, they are waiting for a part which is on back order, for the suspension/compressor. The part is the valve they said. Shouldn't they be replacing the compressor itself for update?

They check the compressor and if it's one of the latest models it's not replaced. They then go on and check the ingress/egress valves and replace if needed, then update the software, also if needed. Yours being an '06 is probably why the compressor is not replaced.
