We had an accidental soft drink spill on the EPB and now when you press it there is an awful squealing noise. Has anyone had a similar experience? Could it be as easy as buying a used EPB and unplugging the old one and plugging another in?

Somehow I cannot imagine it will be that easy, so I though that I would ask.

The squealing is usually associated with the EPB Actuatory failing (stripped gears) so I'm not sure how it could be attributed to the switch getting Mountain Dew spilled on it....unless it shorted it out and caused some kind of electrical transient to the actuator and made the whole system **** itself.

(that's the technical description)

I've spilled drinks in that center console area and have had issues with buttons sticking as a result, but nothing that you described. Try squirting some circuit board cleaner in there if you want to flush out any debris...the cleaner will evaporate and won't damage the electronics (but there is a low risk of it rinsing solids into a more problematic area)
