dave, i figured that about the running shift but i guess i just found it funny that once you are stuck in the sand or mud or starting to get stuck, by the time you put it in neutral, move it to low and put it back in drive you will have lost your momentum and probably already be stopped...but yes on the pavement you should be able to do it without losing momentum but who needs 4 low on pavement...LOL
BTW, great forum so far, thanks for all the help. I've got a land owner event next week here in Florida with my dealership and they are taking us to an off road event in Kissimmee. I am looking forward to getting my vehicle in some mud and rock climbing, if they have rocks there. I am also looking forward to the instructors and just learning whatever tips they have and to see what the vehicle can really do!!

Well, you should be in low transfer case prior to plunging into the mud. As for rocks...the only rocks I have ever seen in Kissimmee was a giant minature golf course called Pirates Cove or something like that.

For the dealer's Wheeler Day event, you really only need to concentrate on one thing. Listen to your spotter!

Nathan is correct, always plan ahead, make the shift before needed, select the mode before hand, etc. While it is not always possible, it is a big help.
As for his other advice, your spotter is your friend, trust him!
