hi again guys and gals...

ok this is wierd. i just changed the spark plugs today on my 97 disco, to bosch platinum +4. the power seemed much better on the truck. mid day however i am sitting at a stop light and the rpm's drop down to below 500 and the spedo stopped working. i drove to my destination, like there was nothing wrong at all, no power loss, shut down the truck, did my shopping, got back in and started driving and everything was ok, speedo worked too. just before the house, i got another drop in revs upon excelerating from a red light, lasted a fraction of a second and again back to normal. now, i didnt change the wires yet because the new ones are on order, and the plugs went in ok, finger tightened them and then one quarter turn to lock them in place, and am sure i didnt over tighten them. (not that this would make a difference). the only thing is that it is VERY cold out right now, and damp because it has been raining and there has been frozen rain too.

any thoughts?

Check all the connections at the distributor as well as at the alternator for dirty or loos connections.
I use Bosh Platium Plus 4's also and think they are great, but they do require more voltage to run then regular plugs so get a good set of plug wires quickly, like Magnacor 8mm's.
Todays problem does sound like an electrical probelm, so start checking .
Good luck,
Mike J.

I think you will be real pleased once you get the new wires. In the mean time I would check for a bad connection causing I don't think the new plugs are causing what you are experiencing.
One difference you should notice once you install the new wires is that the engine low end will increase at full throttle, great torque.
Take care and let me know how it goes.
