A while ago I upgrade from my stock brake pads to EBC Green Stuff's while keeping the OEM rotor (but replaced). I've noticed that after I wash the vehicle or drive it in the rain and then park it for ~1 day the brake pads "freeze" to the rotors. I have to drive through the brakes to free them up and this can sometimes be a bit jarring. After freeing them, brake performance is normal and under dry conditions they work great. Has anyone experienced this issue before? Does anyone know what causes this and why it is happening with EBC brakes?

I run EBC Green stuff on front and rear and have not experienced that issue. Although I am running Centric Rotors on the rear and EBC Ultimax slotted up front. Maybe a de-glaze is needed on the rotor and pads checked for contamination?

Over seeing 4 Rover forums I read a lot about EBC pads a fair % is not good, too much dust, don't last long, squeak and pros and cons on their stopping power.
If asked, I always suggest using Akebono ceramic pads for the best overall results, last longer, no dust and do out stop most other pads.

I can't disagree with Mike, as he should know, and I have not tried them.

My experience with EBC rotors and pads have been great though. First off, if you are going to fit Green Stuff pads, then fit their rotors. The issue I had with OE rotors is that they where whipped in the first 20k miles. The dealer said they could not turn them, so I ordered 4 new EBC slotted rotors and a set of pads. Yes, indeed I had fitted pads more often but at 100k miles, I decided to replace the EBC's with new rotors, just because I was getting some other work done, and didn't feel like taking it apart again anytime soon.

The trick on the EBC's from my experience is that when you fit the new pads, on old EBC Rotors, you really need a super light turn / cross hatch to insure they don't start acting goofy. This was consistent on my first couple of pad changes until I learned my lesson, just turn them lightly to begin with.

In any event, i've been happy with them, stopping power seems fine, and no grabbing, fading, etc.

I'll never fit OE rotors and Pads again, and haven't read any reports as good or better on anything else, so i'll stick with these for now. I figure i'll be at 200k miles before I have to think about rotors again, pads, yes, probably a set every 15-20k depending on how and where you drive.

I hope this helps
