I'm planning on buying the extended warranty before I leave Dallas in July. You can try the Dallas, Austin or Frisco LR dealers. they are owned by the same group. They didn't say that rates would increase at any particular time. Just buy the warranty as early as you can.

These are the following rates i was quoted in December.

100 Deductible: 2yrs/75k @ $2800

200 Deductible: 2yrs/75k @ $2600

100 Deductible: 3yrs/100k @ $3900

100 Deductible: 3yrs/85K @ $3700

I hope this helps. In regards to buying from any dealer across the country. the truck needs to go through a 24pt inspection, usually done during one of the scheduled oil changes. So I don't know how that would carry out if you bought it across the country... I'm only passing the info that they told me...

I just bought a 60mo/$100,000/$100 Deductible Extended Warranty today for my 2005 LR3with 23k+ miles from my dealer for $2,610.00. At 25k miles the price goes up.

Tom,

Did that just add 12 months beyond the standard warranty?

Thanks,
Rich

Added 5 years from Date of Purchase (today) or 100,000 miles on odometer... whichever comes first. So, if my calculations are correct, I can drive an average of 15,400 miles a year for the next 5 years... under warranty.

But I suspect I will trade for another LR before then.

Wow, I just got the quote from my dealer (Anaheim, CA).

2005 LR3 with 43,000 miles

- 3yr/100,000 miles & $100 deductible: $4,800
- 3yr/100,000 miles & $200 deductible: $4,500

I think that is outrageous. 14% of what I paid for the entire vehicle originally!

I believe the Suggested Retail Price for the Easy Care Gold TOTALCare $100 ded plan in April for your mileage/yr was $3,172; $200 ded was $2,834. I'd ask the dealer to show you the rate sheets! Maybe there is a geographical adjustments... I'm in the western part of the Midwest. California may be more.

Nwoods, maybe they know how you drive yours, lol. That does seem crazy, and a testament to how the dealer must think the long term reliability is. I haven't checked lately, but my quote was about $3000 with the $100 deductible. I'm still struggling over whether my cheap ass is going to get it or not. Fortunately, I really haven't heard about others with higher mileage having many problems...

Warrenty Direct offered me a 3yr/100,000 warranty, $200 deductible, with several minor axulliary coverages at just under $2,600.

That's a little better. However, I am seriously thinking of selling the Storm Trooper and getting something a bit more cush, maybe a newer HSE...

Well, I'm really on the bubble on this one. I spoke a different dealer that I have a better relationship with (and why the heck should that matter?), and was quoted $3,200, with a big catch, I have to commit before 45,000 miles or it goes up another $800, and that is only a few days away for me. Plus, I was told that their policies are going WAY up in cost, already up to $9,600 on the full size Range Rover, and the rest of the policies are going up on May 1st by an average INCREASE of $4,000. They said this was not a LR decision, but the warranty company, and that LR is ****** about it. FWIW.
