Alright. I have a 99 Disco II. This past February I had to have the driveshaft replaced..it had fallen off. I'm not sure if it damaged anything or not..the dealership didn't say there was anything that had been affected by it. Not long after that I noticed a rattling noise when I would first start the car..it has only gotten worse as time has gone by..and I haven't had the extra money to take it to the dealership to have it looked at. Recently..as in a week ago..I was hitting about 50mph and the car started vibrating and the check engine light began to flash. I slowed a little and the vibrating stopped. I again excelerated to about 50 and it started again..so I stayed at a speed where it wouldn't vibrate. The check engine light stayed on for a day or so after this happened. I didn't try to go 50mph or above until yesterday and the vibrating started at 55mph. I'm sure there are probably a number of things this could be..but could anyone possibly narrow it down?

Could be:

- Steering/Suspension related (bushings, panhard rod, misalignment, etc.)
- Horrible engine malady causing it to run so rough and misfire enough to shake the entire engine
- Out-of-balance driveshaft
- Differential issues (although not likely)
- Tires suddenly gone waaaaaaay out of balance (although you should feel that at slower speeds)

I had a similar problem with my '01; extreme vibration at 50 mph and above - turned out the tires were cupping (Goodyear Wranglers). Put a new set on and the vibration disappeared.
