Hi!
I have a 2.6 Land Rover Series 3 and the fuel pump is not pumping. I disconnected the out line and checked the in line. The line let air through and the pick-up tube itself and the mesh filter at the pick-up tiube as well as in the fuel pump were fine. It's a Facet fuel pump and it's ought to be self priming. Yet when I ran it without the out line, nothing came out - but it did move air.
Lately (months, now) it had been running continously when the key is turned to "on",. where previously it ran slower after a few seconds, presumely to fill up the caruberettor.
Can anyone shed light on this? Is this a normal way for a pump to die? Am I doing anything wrong? I did ignore a change in sounds, to my detriment because I need to move my Landy. I blame old age.
cheers,
Ferenc
