I think I am beginning to loose the ability to blow heat or ac into my vehicle... When I cut on the fan some times it doesn't register that the AC is even on (no light on switch) other times the fan cuts of and on intermittently. ( I have no problems with the rear system).
With winter coming I need to get this fixed so I can use the defrost at full blast.
Any ideas?

What is the difficulty scale on fixing something like this...(dealer or back yard mech?)

Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like the normal lucas wiring/switch issues.

I am betting, since you haven't said so, that this happen when the fan is on High level. If you put the fan on 3 I bet it works just fine. The switch is going bad. Again another issue I have lived with for 4 years... I don't feel like taking the whole dash apart to fix... about a 3 hour job if you have a bit of a clue... 2 hours if you done it before... and longer if tools seem new to you.

You are correct .. usually only happens when I have it on high. (today though it seemed like it was happening on all levels)
Not being the most handy person in this forum I guess I'll choose to live with this issue as well.

Not sure I'm glad to hear that my issues are more common than I thought. What else can I expect to go bad?

Fan, Wipers, Rear Sunroof, cracked dash (All I am currently living with)
Rear Door lock actuator, Rt. rear window (all fixed)

lost everything

It's official... I have lost all ability to have AC or heat in my rover. Once a blue moon the unit will push some air then it cuts itself off.
Not being to handy; expecially when it comes to electronics, I figure I'm going to have to shell out some harn earned cash to the dealer for a fix..
Any idea what kind of price I can look at paying?

Don't take this to a dealer to fix.... find a mechanic (that can work on a dash) somewhere in your area... please don't take this to the dealer for the cost you can take to a local mechanic worth his salt and still have money to buy some new tires.

BTW Joey...
Thanks for all the help .. I'll ask around and see if I can find someone other that the dealer to help fix my problem...
minimum price quoted on the phone $350 ... unless the entire unit needs to be replaced then were looking close to $700 and > ... my bet is they would go for the full gusto..
Those prices put me in a predicament... I love the truck (been good to me all these years); just getting scared the cost of maintenance is far exceeding value of truck.
I figured something bad would happen .. Finally invested the money in an after market rack to carry my Kayak,

Hey Joey...

With some help from the guys at the firehouse we managed to pull the dash console off.. (man what a pain!!)
Couldn't see too much wrong but after some prodding and poking best we could determine is the switch is going bad on the unit... what ya think??
(If you move the switch to just the right place you get air...too much or too little movement and you get nothing...)
Contacting roverguy about getting new climate control console and replacing it myself..

Thanks
neill
