On my '99 P38 the front wipers just stopped working ... first they would only work in high speed then not at all ... I checked the fuse and tried new relays but no dice any suggestions?

Don't know if its the same, but I have had a similar problem with my 93 Classic. What happened to me is the arm that sits on the wiper motor drive shaft had come loose and then lost all of its teeth that mesh with the spline on the drive shaft. I just removed the arm and cut some new grooves with a fine toothed hacksaw. I was able to gain access through the offside air intake which was a result as the manual says that you have to remove the bonnet(hood) and the deckplate. Its a squeeze but it can be done.

To see if this is the problem, can you hear the motor turning. Also befor going to these lengths make sure that the locking nut on the wiper arms is tight.

Also on a newer (non-classic) you may want to check the switch itself, these like the headlight switches are known to go bad.
