Howdy,

Does your fuel door lock when your doors are locked? The manual indicates it does and I was reading some OLD posts for older models which indicated that they didn't have this feature, so I checked mine this AM.

Despite manual indicating "gas door can only be opened if doors are unlocked (paraphrased)," my door is able to OPEN when doors are locked.

What gives? Broken or LUX model feature?

The manual is wrong. It's been wrong since the 2005 LR3 came out I think, that door has never locked in North America regardless of trim, and yet they our manuals keep claiming it does... (it locks in most countries abroad, at least in those where gas is $7+/gal.) How do you like the auto recirculation and air quality sensor features in your heating and ventilation system, by the way? That's in the manual, too.

Not sure about the LR4 as I have yet to look, but I know of a few owners over on the Sport forum - same issue - who purchased the locking solenoid and hardware from abroad and successfully retrofitted their RRS, claiming the electrics (basically a single unused receptacle in the rear RH quarters of the vehicle) are there, but unused, on NA spec vehicles.

This is off the electrical libraries of a 2013 NAS LR4. Connector C0690S is identified as "Fuel Flap - Motor".

And this is the relevant electrical reference library page.

If you worry so much about somebody stealing or messing with your fuel, invest in STANT locking fuel cap for LR3 or LR4.It works fine and is it a 14 bucks well spent. This locking door feature does not work well, you would be surprised how easy is ti pry open that flimsy mechanism anyway.

I wouldn't say I worry so much, but I believe in removing the temptation by increasing the difficulty. I don't have armed security at my house, or a sprinkler system, or cameras, but I take basic precautions, which deter most casual trouble.

I think one of these would be locking the doors....

I feel you.I found my fuel door open after Sandy hit the Jersey Shore, during the 11 day blackout, dark on the streets, fuel shortages everywhere.Luckily I had lockable fuel cap already installed. Somebody must have wanted to try to play with it .All the thieves or whoever was there left , was a dent in rear passenger door.Well, if somebody wants your fuel really bad, that will drill a hole in SUV tank and drain it all to container.

Cheers.

That sucks! Frigging vandals.

Hopefully when someone drills my tank, fuel will spill all over them, they will drop the drill in haste to get the container under the free flowing liquid, creating a spark, igniting the fuel, and burning themselves to a crisp.

I would take the loss of the vehicle for that divine justice!
