My 4.4 HSE LR3 makes a strange noise (sometimes) the noise sounds like the engine is trying to drive a big fan, a sound akin to a large woosh sound when moving from a standstill or when accelarating from a low speed. When the car has been driven quickly, e.g. when returning to the city after having been driving out side the city the noise is not present but after a short time the noise starts. It doesn't seem to be there all the time just sometimes.

Any ideas?

I get the same noise after turning the engine on and accelerating. I think it's a normal LR3 noise.

Its the engine fan. A clutch plate engages it when the engine needs extra cooling.

It's not a noise, it's a sound.

It's not a fault, it's a feature.

I have noticed this, it even happened when we picked up the LR3.

I can accept the fact that it is the fan engaging to cool down the engine. Is it also normal to have a significant reduction in power when this happens?

No more loss of power then when your AC is on. If you are a first time Landy owner...get ready for the orchestra that is our vehicle. Just say it with me..."thats normal". :D
