They charged me $350 for the first attempt, and will take that off the second, so that it will "only" cost $2100. I still think that for a five year old vehicle, this is rediculous. The tubes or whatever should not be rusting all the way through in five years.
Today I will call my own dealership in Portland Oregon. Right now I am in Detroit, Michigan and I don't know this dealership.

I also want to call Land Rover and see what the warranty is on this kind of thing.

I am not a car geek. I love to drive and do it well, but the mechanics are not my thing.

Anyway, I will definitely keep you all posted.

what about a possible seal leak where the factory roof rack bars enter the top of the truck? maybe the seal thing there is deteriorating, that would possibly explain why no standing water was seen in your sunroof VWFAN??

--and yeah, I have cracked a windshield by spraying hose water onto it after it has been sitting in the sun, not a fun expense to pay for such a stupid mistake!

I am using Lavery. Who do you use? Perhaps I should get a second opinion? My friend just suggested going to Farmington and talking to the service guy and asking what experience they have had and what it might cost.

I would have Farmington Hills take a look at it. Lavery used to be the only dealer in town and they absolutely sucked. They may have gotten better since competition came in, but I doubt it. Also, complaining to LR might work, when I needed new valves on my 5 year old truck, they agreed to pay for 1/2. Good Luck!
