I have a 98 Disco that has performed perfectly over the past couple of years. However, lately the brake pedal will occasionally and w/o warning go all the way to the floor with a shuddering ABS type of feel. It only happens at low speed and usually after idling up to a final stop (ie when I have not revved the engine for a short time). The ABS light has begun to come on when driving, as well.

I could really use some advise. I took it to a mech and they are scratching their heads and charging me to do so. I am not even w/in a 6 hr drive of a dealer.

Thanks!

I would not recommend this to just say ABS sucks, and per any lawyer I can only say this is what I Have done and would not say this is the way to fix this issue or as a proper fix etc etc..... legal garbage...

Remove the 30 amp fuse under the hood for the ABS and this issue will not come back.... 2+ years without ABS issues.

I read that from you in another post and am considering the same final solution for ABS if it continues to give trouble. Just heard back from the mechanic though, and he said that the problem was a leaking master cyclinder (I didn't see where fluid was leaking, but he apparently did). I'm hoping that once I replace the master, the ABS light will go off. I appreciate the quick feedback on this problem.

Fwiw, I read on this site that it takes a special code reader to read the LR ABS light code. When I called the mech, he was still trying to figure out why the ABS was on--I don't think he had this info about ABS codes. So I would like to say THANK YOU all for that info, it saved me some $$ as I told him to stop work and we will pick it up.
