How hard is changing the fuel filter in a D1?

I have a 97 Discovery and I found an article online about how to change the fuel filter. I was just wondering how hard of a job this actually is. I think it's probably due for a new filter, but it looks like a pain to replace since you have to remove the tire and unplug the fuse and all that. Anyone one have any suggestions or anything on changing the fuel filter? Is it easy enough that I could do it on my own if I follow the directions? I can change my oil and stuff like that, so I think I could do it... it just looks time consuming.

Fuel filter on a D1 can either go real smooth, or be a extreme pain in the neck.

Tire does not have to be removed, but does help. Just bleed the system via the shreader valve on the fuel rail (passeger side USA).

Make sure you use Line wrenches to help prevent issues, then pray real hard that it isn't rusted on completly. Mine I can remove the rear, but have to unscrew the filter off the front line, because the line is frozen.

Basically by removing the relay and running the engine you are bleeding the system... I just put a rag over the shreader valve and bleed it manually, works just as well.

I would also spray the fuel filter nuts with break free or similar (not WD-40) 2 times a day for 3 days before you even try doing this work.
