If no CDL - why not just leave the diff locked?

What would be the down side to leaving the center diff locked all the time?

other than it will tear up the Front and rear diffs, and ruin the transfer case... Nothing.

Both front and rear axles will run at the same speed as long as you don't drive on any hard surfaces so the front wheels can spin when turning (basically since they are both going the same speed, the fronts will continue to spin even it turns) this will then cause the Center diff to bind up causing all kinds of issues.

CDL locking permently

From my experience with American military vehicles, this was the purpose of locking hubs. There is no center differential, that is why you have to get out, lock and unlock the front hubs. This was drummed into us as much as keeping your weapon clean. Having your equipment ready, well maintained, and well cared for is the key to being able to do it again, be it play or fight.

So, are there any locking front hubs out there that can retro-fitted for the rover? Then you can lock up that center differential and forget about it.

But not until then.

Roverlover, as far as I know there are not locking hubs available for the rover. Keep in mind though that if you use the CDL or at least move it around without the engine running, it will keep it well lubed and prevent issues.
