has anyone done this on a 2010? it seems like it can take a while? do you do it with a laptop connected to the tool?

i did mine and I recall about 5-10mins. I just connected the IIdtool and it took care of the update process to the lr4 display.

I believe it takes about 7 minutes. Makes a nice little difference.no need to have a laptop connected ever unless you actually update the tool.

If you stare at it long enough until your eyes start to cross, some 3D dolphins and a rainbow will appear. Sorry, couldn't resist! Not sure I have a 2011 so that is one thing I didn't do with the tool. Adding the digital speedo on the cluster is a cool feature though.

I didn't have the pleasure of upgrading the cluster, as I already have a 2013. According to GAP however, the difference should be mostly cosmetic, meaning the 2010-11 B/W display should look like the 2012+, darker, less blocky and pixelated, after the update. Obviously some time between 2010 and 2012 Land Rover realized the thin-film transistor display didn't "do" gradients very elegantly, and opted for flatter but cleaner graphics.

Before the update (MY2010-2011 look):

And after the update (MY2012+ look):

Kinda annoyed, they put a colored display in the low end LR2 model and we are still stuck with the B&W piece of junk.

That's typical LR electronics in the stone ages for you.
