Well good news, i decided not to go with the Touareg, as we already have one in my family. Instead we went for an 04 Land Rover Discovery SE, with 2,970 miles for $30,500... picking it up sometime between now and saturday.
What are some of the first things i should do, i was thinking of getting a K&N Air Filter, maybe some new bulbs and the nerf bars.

Anyone know what kind of lights the Discovery has, are they HID or Xeonon or just regular halogen?

adding the K&N will not do much for the Disco... and if you over oil it, you will be replacing the MAF soon.

Not sure the type of bulbs the 04 has...

Nerf bars, there are alot out there, shop around for the best deal.

Well i saw a new in box K and N for the Discovery for $33 and figured it couldnt hurt. But i guess im new to the discovery and its likes and dislikes.

For the the nerf bars, what about quality of build, any recommendations? The Manik looked pretty nice and fairly cheap...

Don't get me wrong, I run a type of K&N filter (airforceone set up).

Not fimilar with the Manik.... it is more user preference. I like the RTE stuff myself, but not cheap. But I got mine used and save alot of money.

With the K&N you just have to make sure not to over oil it. But it still will not do much in the way of performance.... remember you are driving a 4600lbs vehicle with a small engine.

Not looking for much of a performace upgrade, but if it could help even a lil then the $33 would be worth it.
What are RTE stuff? Link?

Don't the new ones come with HID by now? Look in your owners manual for what light bulb you need and search on e-bay for some stuff.

With an 04 there is only one thing to do... chip! I think it's well worth the $500 for the powerchip... don't know how much installation is if any.

I don't actually have a chip, but that's what I would recommend u get. A stock air filter replacement is going to give you like maybe 1 more horse. The powerchip claims to give like 20 more.

Once again, not worried about the HP or Torque, its only so i can say my land rover has a K&N filter ha. No really, would there be any improvment in gas milage.
Ill be looking into the chip as soon as i get a lil closer to the end of the warrenty, even though they assure it cant be detected.
