HELP!!!! I need specifics on installing XM in a new LR3. Circuit City has never installed in an LR3 and they are telling me I need to use the cig. lighter as a plug-in rather than hard-wire.They are also puzzeled about how to run the antenna. I am dubious to let them touch the dash without instructions. I have been on other Land Rover sites to no avail. Please advise. THanks.

It sounds like they aren't trying very hard. WHen I ran my Sirius, I put it in the center cubby above the center console area. I ran the power up from the accesory port that is to the left of the center ashtray. I'm still using the actual accessory "plug in", (I'm not sold on the sound quality of satelite radio yet). When I go permanet, I'll just tap into the two wires behind the panel. I ran the antenna from the back of the car. It is mounted to the right of that plug with two sided tape/antenna magnet. I popped the plug that is to the raer of the roof glass, it is held on with two-sided tape mostly, pulled all the old off and put new tape on and cut a notch for the antenna wire. The wire is run down into the hole under the plug, left across the back and then forward along the roof linedown the A-pillar and across to the receiver. The LR3 panels are almost two simple to remove. The console panel is held on with clips, the panel beneath the steering wheel has clips at the tops, pull toward the rear of the car, then fold down and remove. Run along the roof line by pulling the weather strips down alog the doors for access. Be cautious to use no pointy objects, and run the antenna wire to the OUTSIDE of the airbags. The panel @ the rear of the car, just pull on one corner and the clips should slowly let go. This is a guideline of what I did. There are numerous threads on Sirius installs that the search function will bring up, that have more detail on panel removal. I hope that this helps.

Install in LR3

Thanks for your response! I'm glad to learn of the ease of panel removals and I was concerned about those side airbags & running the antenna. I have the navigation system above the console so that location is not an option. You have been a big help!

I can't imagine a situation in where I'd allow a Circuit City employee to touch my car...

Take it somewhere else. I had Tweeter install mine. Very nice install in the center cluster under the ashtray. It is wired direct to the aux in. Antenna sits next to the gps antenna. Looks like a factory install--no visible wires anywhere. Only complaint is that the Big Gulp in the cupholder blocks my view of the display.

Good to know. Do you still have use of the aux jack?

I lost you until the part where you have to bring the wire inside below the A pillar on the driver side... I cant seeem to figure out where to bring it in the vehicle.

Also... how can you pop out the plastics from the rear seats to access the AUX port from behind... that way my plug is inside the console

I had a high-end car-stereo place put my XM in and it looks good. They were impressed that they didn't have to drill any holes. This all seemed too easy to be true, until the red check-engine light came on and the truck went to the dealer on a tow truck.

It seems that the high-end stereo place didn't know that just about every wire in the cab has a dual power/signal function and pulling power with the XM causes bogus errors to be generated. When enough of them accumulated the red light came on.

My dealer's recommendation is to get power for your satellite radio right off the battery and not try to guess the function of some random wire that happens to have 12V on it.

I wouldn't let the refugees-from-fast-food who work at Circut City touch my truck either.

I have had XM since it was two months old. I still have the same Delphi Skyfi with vehicle and home cradle. My LR3 is a lease, so I just ran the wire to the driver's side rear hatch area and taped the pod into the flat area where the 7th passenger could put knick knacks. I ran the wire up along the door pane trim, under the drivers seat and up to the ashtray area. I just run the aux wire around center counsel and I plug into the aux lighter plug. The cradle fits snugly with no need to adhesive in the area in front of the ashtray. Took me 15 minutes, the wires are hard to notice, and I can just unplug the aux cord for an MP3 player or what have you.

Pull the left side weather strips down @ the top, you will see plenty of room to run a wire, pull the weatherstrip away from the front of the drivers door opening, and there is a little bit of space to tuck the wire over and through, below the column and over to the console area. At least that is where mine is. As for the AUX panel, slowly pull the panel backward, by the housing and what not, and it will come loose.

Hope this helps.
