interested in discovery

Hi all,
I do not own a Land rover but am interested in getting a discovery.Anything I should be wary of or any known serious problems to watch out for.I'll probably be looking at 96 to 2000 years.

Well for starters, the 96 to 00 years span 2 different model types.. 96 - 99.5 (early 99) is the D1, and the 99.5 to 03 is the D2, then the 04 is the D2 with a 4.6 liter vice the 4.0 liter in the other 2 model types.
