I'm a new D2 owner and new to this forum. Thanks to all for the info I've already taken advantage of. My dealer has told me that it is impossible to install rear jump seats in a Discovery II if they were not installed from the factory. I hope this is not the sad truth. Please advise, and if possible, I'll be in the market for an old set. Thanks!

I'm looking for the same answer...
I think the answer is probably "no" since the floor bed appears to be flat and the jump seats look like they need a recessed spot in the floorboard.

Your dealer is correct.... you can not add jump seat to the rear of a D2 if they were not fitted at the factory....

Sorry

Couldnt you always weld in the correct set up? Is it also the same problem with the seat belt in the pillar also?

As far as I know, no one has tried to weld them in. When I talked to a very good local LandRover mechanic (he moved to Roanoke VA now....) he said that the way the LR was made you could do it with out some serious expense. He said it was cheaper just to find the LR you wanted and trade up.

Does anyone have the diagram of the D2 jump seat attachments? i do some fabrication myself and have the option of buying some very good D2 jump seats for a good price.. the other option is just to get some generic backseats and put them in (which would work too) but i would prefer, if i am going to do any custom tinkering to do it with the OEM seats..

or does anyone have a picture of the floor board of the D2 with the seats off? just so i can see how the factory has them mounted.. (this is the D2 front facing seats, not the D1 inward facing seats)..

well good news and bad news..

i started to take apart my rear molding in my 2000 disco and low and beyold, the mounting points for the 2000 disco jump seats are present in my non 7 seater..

i was mildly excited until i pulled up the carpet and sure enough the mounting points for the floor latching point where also present..

so it appears that if you have a newer disco there may be a good chance you can add the jump seat options..

so i ran downto the local truck junk yard and i got pretty lucky he had an SE7 2000 disco for parts.. so i snatched up the jump seats and am going to be installing them next week.. the only bad news is, i am going to have to modify my rear molding for the seats, as the SE7's had the different molding (which they didn't have as part of this car)... that and they are grey jump lthr instead of tan (but that is what seat covers are for).. i got them for an ok price of 225$ (and they pulled them)

but its definately better than all the work i was going to have to put into adding the seats..

he forgot to pull the floor latching point, so i have to go back on monday and get that from them.. other than that, well on my way to adding the extra 2 seats..
