I have used a filter very similar to the K&N.... if your looking for added performance, you wasting money.

If your looking for better filtering... your wasting your money.

If you over oil it, it will **** the MAF sensor.

Other than that they work well.

Joey is right, the only reason I use them is because I am too cheap/lazy/forgetful to change mine on a regular basis. I have 25k on mine -- I just checked it and it is fine- doesn't need cleaning yet. They save money in the long run.

I am not knocking the K&N or similar filters, I just want to make sure that someone doesn't buy it expecting 10 HP increase or 10% better fuel economy, because it just isn't going to happen.

Don't get me wrong with hight air flow of the K&N and a free flowing exhaust, plus dropping the engine bay temps, plus getting the Performance Chips for the Disco, you will get your HP increase and better fuel economy if you stay out of the throttle.

I accually have an Air Force One cold air intake set up that comes with a filter very similar to the K&N. http://airforceoneperformance.com/

Basicaly for everyday use I would recommend the paper filter, unless you know how to oil and clean the K&N or similar filter, and you understand that if you drive in heavy dust, the filter will not block all the dust and dirt from getting in you engine.

I also have a water resistant prefilter on mine that helps alot with dust and water of course.

i agree with waht joey says. i had a k&n a while ago but after i saw the all dust it let through, i switched back to the trusty paper filter. $20 every once in a while is nothing compared to what is spent on gas!

Thanks for the responses. Pretty much what I expected to hear I think I will stick with paper.
