keyless entry

Hello I recently purchased a '98 4.0 RR and the keyless entry feature located on the key is not working so i'm using the key itself to open the driver door, however I started getting a constant beeping when i unlock/open the door with a message stating 'ignition key in' which appears to be some sort of security feature. Any ideas as to how to make this go away unitl the new key arrives? does it have anything to do with the key position in the ignition switch or just something i have to deal with until the new key arrives? any suggestions please!!!

Sounds like you need to change the battery in the key, then worse case visit the dealer to have them reprogram the key.
