Do any of the land rover parts come from the ford parts bin? Since Ford owns land rover or what not, just wondering if they share parts.

Also,

Is it true that the Disco have 1Ton axel's under them, not sure where I read this at?

Ford did not buy LR until 2000 if I recall correctly, and the first Ford/LR designed vehicle was the New Disco. As far as I know, none of the parts are Ford parts.

1 Ton Axels, If I recall correctly they are, but that doesn't mean you want to beat them up either.

Axles are different than CVs, too. CVs on Discos are the weak point from the factory floor. It's not that they are fragile, of course -- just don't want to flog them.

Joey, what do you mean by new disco? 03-04, just 04 or the LR3(disco3)? Just curious, still learning the LR lingo...hehe.

Also, where are the CV's? Front Axel only? I assumed they used all U joints. Guess I dont rem. seeing them when I was looking at the underside.

New Disco... the LR3, known everywhere except the USA as the Disco 3.

CV's are on the front axel only. U joints are used, but they are not all greaseable... i.e. Disco II's need replaced before they go bad.

Ford bought LR from BMW in 2002 and asked for 230 changes to the 2003 Disco 2 before it was released.

Ford Europe is different than Ford USA. The parts are all LR sourced in Europe IIRC.
